Intent

The Hamtramck Historical Museum is designed to be more than just a repository and display
venue for historical items. It is to be a living entity focused on the present and future as well as
the city’s great past.

A wide range of programs and services will be offered, including:
• Slide/Power Point presentations
• Book signings
• Guest lectures
• Craft demonstrations
• Ethnic cultural demonstrations (dance, song, etc.)
• Video presentations
• School Programs

This will complement the basic resources, including:
• Historical displays
• Library
• Map Collection
• Document archives
• Photo archives
• Gift shop

Special Services

In addition to the basic services the museum will serve as the start/end point for the popular
tours of the city conducted by the Hamtramck Historical Commission.

The large upstairs ballroom will also be made available for rental for special events and uses.
